A 2013 action-adventure video game created by Naughty Dog. It originally released on the PlayStation 3, was remastered for the PlayStation 4 in 2014, and remade for the PlayStation 5 in 2022 as The Last of Us Part I.
The game is set in the post-apocalyptic United States, 20 years after a strain of the Cordyceps fungus began infecting humans, causing a zombie apocalypse. The story focuses on Joel and Ellie, who travel across the country in hopes of finding a cure for the infection.
The game was critically acclaimed for its storytelling, and credited for the shift towards "cinematic", story driven AAA video games during the 2010s. A sequel, The Last of Us Part II, was released in 2020.
