st. paul's cathedral

An Anglican cathedral in London, England, the seat of the Bishop of London. Formerly known as the Cathedral Church of St. Paul the Apostle. Its construction was finished in 1710, consecrated in 1628.

During World War II, the cathedral survived the Blitz although it was struck by German bombs on 10 October 1940 and 17 April 1941. The way it survived was captured as the iconic St Paul's Survives photograph during the night air raid of 29–30 December 1940, illuminated by fires and surrounded by smokes of burning buildings.
