snap-fit buckle
A plastic buckle where one half is made up of three prongs that are inserted into the other half that acts as a shell. The buckle is released by pressing on the sides to push the prongs inward. A "snap" noise is created when you connect the buckle together and when you pull it apart.
Also known as a side release buckle.
