Sinners is a 2025 movie directed by Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and starring Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton (in his film debut), Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.
Described as genre-defying film that incorporates a hybrid of Southern Gothic, period drama, supernatural horror, and musical elements, the movie is set in 1932 in Clarksdale, Mississippi and follows twin brothers Elijah "Smoke" and Elias "Stack" Moore(both played by Jordan), the Smokestack Twins, two World War I veterans turned gangsters who returned to their hometown to start their own club and bar. Enlisting the help of their cousin Sammie(Canton) a Blues Singer and guitarist, pianist Delta Slim(Lindo), Cook and Voodoo witch doctor Annie (Mosaku), Smoke's estranged wife and Mary(Steinfeld), Stack's mixed race ex-girlfiend who was forced to pass as white, to help the club. However, on the night of the club's opening, Sammie's music catches the attention of Remmick, (O'Connell), an Irish vampire, leading to a fight for survival.
The movie was praised by both critics and movie goers and earned more than 300 millions dollars in the box office. The movie received many nominations including 16 at 98th Academy Awards, the most nominations ever received.
