shishi odoshi
A bamboo lever and water fountain placed in Japanese gardens as a noisemaker to scare off deer and other herbivorous nuisances. Flowing water spills into the open end of the bamboo, filling it up. Once it becomes heavy, it tips over and makes a distinct "donk" noise when it hits a rock, spilling out its contents and resetting to its original position.
