He is portrayed with black hair, grey eyes, and glasses; his outfit consists of a grey-theme formal attire: grey jacket, white shirt, blue necktie, grey pants, and black shoes.
In real life, he was often grouped with Dazai Osamu and Oda Sakunosuke as the Buraiha, the "Decadent Authors" of post-World War II Japanese literature.
