sabaton

An armored shoe. A sabaton or solleret is part of a medieval knight's armor that covers the foot.

They are often worn in combination with greaves to protect the shins. See armored boots for a single piece of armor that covers both the feet and shins.

Not to be confused with Sabaton the heavy metal band.
