rifle grenade
A specialized type of grenade that uses a rifle-based launcher rather than being thrown by hand. Some of them look similar to mortar shells. Rifle grenades are attached onto the muzzle, and propelled by a blank cartridge inserted into the chamber of the gun.
Modern use of rifle grenades has been widely phased out in favour of underbarrel grenade launchers.
