pokey (mario)
A cactus enemy from the Mario series that first appeared Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic, then later incorporated into the Mario franchise proper with Super Mario Bros. 2. They are only found in desert levels and are covered with spikes, damaging the player when touched. Hitting the head defeats the whole Pokey, although it is possible to knock away one of its segments (or have Yoshi eat it) without defeating it.
Pokeys are depicted as multi-segmented yellow cacti covered with spikes and are always smiling. Some Pokeys may also have a flower on their head. They were green in their original design.
