    AKA: Maximillion Pegasus (English dub)

    Chairman of Industrial Illusions and creator of the card game Duel Monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters universe. The core antagonist of the Duelist Kingdom arc, but later became supporting character afterwards.

    As the creator of the card game Duel Monsters and also the discoverer of their ancient Egyptian roots, Pegasus often plays a key role throughout the anime due to his extensive knowledge of the game and its mysterious origins. He has a habit of calling Muto Yugi "Yugi-boy" and Kaiba Seto "Kaiba-boy" in the Japanese and edited English versions of the anime and manga, primarily to emphasize his bad Japanese. Despite his age, he has an obsession over cartoons, which inspired him to create his iconic Toon World cards.

    Pegasus possess the "Millennium Eye", one of the seven Millennium items with an ability to read person's mind In which he obtained after his trip in Egypt which led him to the discovery of Duel Monsters. He usually utilize this ability to his advantage during a card game before losing the eye to Yami Bakura in a shadow game.

    In the Duelist Kingdom arc, Pegasus cooporated with "the Big Five", a group of disgraced former executive of Kaiba Corp., to take over the company from Kaiba by kidnapping his brother Mokuba, while also luring Yami Yugi into facing him in a shadow game by kidnapping Yugi's grandfather in an attempt to retrieve his Millennium Puzzle in hope of reviving his deceased lover/wife.
