parrying
The act of blocking an enemy's weapon with your own weapon. Commonly seen in a swordfight, where at least 2 characters with swords or katanas slashing at each other to gain an advantage over the other. Sometimes it's just an improvised blocking or guarding with a weapon (sometimes your own fists).
It can also be seen in game mechanics, where parrying an opponent's attack negates all damage.
