(25 June 1938 – 14 May 2000)

Former Prime Minister of Japan from July 30, 1998 to April 5, 2000. During his tenure as Chief Cabinet Secretary, he presided over the announcement of the Heisei era name on January 7, 1989, following the death of Emperor Hirohito.
