One of two Mega-Evolved forms of Charizard, which debuted in Pokemon X and Y. Charizard can attain this form when holding a Charizardite X. Mega Evolution enhances Charizard's physical capacities, granting it far more raw physical power and resilience than ever before. Its tail is somewhat shorter, its body turns jet-black with blue details, and its wings transform to attain a different shape.

Its Attack rises prominently over the course of Mega Evolution, and its Defense and Special Attack increase noticeably as well. Its Ability, Tough Claws, grants Mega Charizard X a 33% boost to contact moves. This form is also a Fire/Dragon-type, rendering it vulnerable to Ground-type moves and stage hazards.

Its counterpart is Mega Charizard Y.
