maxx c

増殖するG

Level: 3
Attribute: Earth
Type: Insect/Effect
During either player's turn: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; this turn, each time your opponent Special Summons a monster(s), immediately draw 1 card. You can only use 1 "Maxx C" per turn.

ATK: 500
DEF: 200

A Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monster card. Known within the community as one of the most powerful "hand trap" cards ever released due to its ability to allow its user to capitalize on their opponent's special summon combo (that has become prevalent in the 2010's onward) and easily find a card(s) to counter them. This often results into the opponent having to stop their summoning combo to prevent the Maxx C's user from gaining more card advantage. Alternately, the opponent will try the "Maxx C challenge", meaning they will special summon as many monsters as possible in an attempt to deck out the opponent. The card was banned from TCG in 2018, but still sees widespread use in the OCG and Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.

Its Japanese name is "Proliferating G", with "G" standing for "gokiburi", a Japanese word for cockroach. The monster itself is depicted as many pairs of shiny eyes, representing cockroaches lurking in the shadows.
