mardock scramble
A 2003, three volume cyperpunk scifi novel series by Ubukata Tow.
In 2010, it was adapted into an manga series and an anime movie series, that as of 2011 has 2 films out (Mardock Scramble: The First Compression and Mardock Scramble: The Second Combustion).
The series is about a 15-year-old girl named Rune Balot, who had been taken in by a man named Shell Septinos. At the start of the series Shell attempts to kill Rune Balot, slitting her throat and leaving her for dead in a burning car. She is rescued by the private investigator Dr. Easter and his partner, an intelligent synthetic mouse, named Œufcoque. To save her life, they performed a normally illegal procedure that replaced the entire skin of her body with a synthetic skin. This skin ends up granting her super human abilities, being able to completely sense her surroundings without sight and granting her the ability to manipulate electronics around her.
