laser rifle

An energy rifle that fires laser beams.

This is typically accomplished through the use of a high-energy laser beam that melts and/or burns the target. Other mechanisms are also possible, such as an electrolaser that uses a laser to form an electrically conductive channel through the air and then sends a large electrical charge down that channel a split second later that hits and damages the target.
