kumo no ito (story)

A short story by Akutagawa Ryuunosuke about a sinner trying to escape hell by climbing up the thread of spider web. When he looks down and sees other sinners climbing up after him he cuts the thread afraid their weight will cause it to fall. After he cuts it the silk snaps causing him to fall as well.
