kihunter

Alien enemies that appear in Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid: Other M.

They are an insectoid-like race that flies on wings, harbor stingers, swipe with sharp hooks for hands and spit out acid from their beak-like mouths. They build nests and swarm in colonies similar to that of a bee or wasp. Metroid Fusion reveals that Zeros are a larval form of the Kihunters and Metroid: Other M introduces the King Kihunter who rule over them in the nest.

They are said to be Space Pirates brought from another galaxy, and they were tasked to rebuild Zebes in Super Metroid after it's destruction in Metroid.
