ヘイウッド・L・エドワーズ(艦隊これくしょん) ヘイウッド・L・エドワーズ(艦これ) ヘイウッド Heywood_L._Edwards
Kantai Collection's personification of the USS Heywood L. Edwards (DD-663), named for the captain of the American destroyer USS Reuben James, the first American vessel sunk during World War II. After the war, the Edwards was transferred to the new Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, where she was given the name Ariake. She spent the rest of her career with the Japanese, being decommissioned in 1974 and scrapped in 1976. Character design by Zeco, she was originally revealed in C2 Kikan's Comiket 101 booth. She became a playable character with the Winter 2023 event in March 2023.
In Kancolle, Edwards has long, grey hair with a notable ahoge and glasses over her blue eyes. Her clothing consists of a white hat, white gloves, black thighhighs, a black skirt, and an off-shoulder serafuku with a black sailor collar. Her shirt is initially colored grey, but becomes a blue shirt like her sisters at Kai. A blue armband on her right arm displays her historical emblem beneath her full name and hull number.
Her rigging is standard for the Fletcher class: rudder footwear, hull portions on her sides with depth charges, and a larger section attached to her back with gun mounts, smokestacks, and anti-aircraft guns. An additional gun mount is carried as a firearm in her hands. At base level, the anti-aircraft guns on Edwards' rigging are single-barrel Bofors 40 mm Guns, while at Kai they change to double-barrel. The coloration of Heywood's rigging also changes: from camouflage at Base to Measure 22 at Kai.
