The GIGN (Groupe d'intervention de la Gendarmerie nationale "National Gendarmerie Intervention Group") is the elite police tactical unit of the National Gendarmerie of France, established in 1973.
The personnel are known for sporting combat helmets with (yellow-tinted) clear visors and the use of .357 Magnum Manurhin MR73 revolvers.
