Solid body electric guitar created and manufactured by American instrument maker Gibson since 1958. Built with a futuristic design in mind alongside its closest sibling the Explorer, it was initially deemed a failure with less than 100 units being built and sold between 1958 and 1959. The Flying V eventually catched the interest of certain guitarists and slowly gained success until its boom in popularity since the 80's, being popularily used in Metal subgenres for its aggressive looks.

Visually distinguished by the symmetrical V shape with round edges which sonstitue its body and distinguish it from newer V-style models made by the likes of Jackson Guitars.
