An urban legend that emerged in Ukrainian social media during the early days of the 2022 Invasion of Ukraine, the Ghost of Kyiv was allegedly a Ukrainian MiG-29 pilot who shot down six Russian aircraft in a single day of operations.

The story was debunked, but the idea of a modern-day ace pilot became a symbol that many social media users rallied around. It also was used to bolster Ukranian troop and civilian morale.
