frutigermetro frutiger vectordelia
Also known as Vectordelia, a visual aesthetic popular in the mid-late 2000s to early 2010s, and a close relative of Frutiger Aero, mixing flat minimalist design styles with overall maximalist imagery inspired by 1960s psychedelia design. It derives its name from the "Metro" theme of Windows 8, though it predates it.
Common visual elements include gradients, "bloom" or "flourish" shapes, glossy textures, bokeh, abstract backgrounds, splatter effects, lineless vector drawings, shapes such as stars and ringed circles, halftone patterns, and silhouettes. Bright color palettes consisting mainly of lime green, electric blue, hot pink and neon orange are a staple.
Common thematic elements and motifs include nature imagery similar to Frutiger Aero, animals like birds and butterflies, speakers and audio visualizers, floral imagery, and music motifs such as piano keys and musical notes.
Some notable examples of media that incorporated the Metro design language include Axis Powers Hetalia, Persona 4, and promotional artwork from the Vocaloid 3 era.
