The frilled shark (Chlamydoselachus anguineus) is a species of shark inhabiting the deep sea and possessing primitive characteristics.
Its English name derives from the gills exposed through the gill slits, which resemble frills.
The frilled shark is famous as the motif for the Monster in Kamata.
