frame break
A visual technique where an element (such as a character, object, effect, or text bubble) within a comic panel, illustration, or other framed artwork extends beyond its defined border or frame. This creates the illusion that the element is breaking free from the two-dimensional confines of the art, often appearing to "pop out" towards the viewer or flow into adjacent visual spaces.
