ever given (evergreen)
The Ever Given is a Golden-class container ship built by the Japanese Imabari Shipbuilding company and operated by the Taiwanese Evergreen Marine Corporation. She initially had a theoretical carrying capacity of 20,338 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEU), the rough volume of 20,388 standard 20-foot long shipping containers. After receiving a retrofit to add scrubbers to reduce emissions her theoretical carrying capacity was reduced to 20,124 TEU.
In February 2019, while on route from Hamburg, Germany to Rotterdam, Netherlands the Ever Given collided and severely damaged the docked Hamburg ferry Finkenwerder. This may have happened due to high winds at the time.
In March 2021, while traveling through the Suez Canal the Ever Given was caught up in a sand storm and ran aground blocking the canal. It was finally freed from the canal after six days.
