The main antagonist of the manga and anime Spy x Family.
Donovan Desmond is the highly reclusive chairman of the ultranationalist Ostanian National Unity Party; the Westalian spy Twilight was sent to spy on him, as his superiors suspect Donovan seeks to reignite the war between Ostania and Westalis.
Together with his wife, Melinda, he has two sons: Demetrius and Damian. Donovan is known to act cold and distant towards his family, as seen in his interactions with Damian; the same turns out to be true for Demetrius.
Donovan has shown sociopathic and misanthropic tendencies from a young age, as seen in his interactions with a younger Henry Henderson decades ago. He believes humanity is fundamentally flawed and doomed to repeat its own mistakes, and holds the conviction that war is what humans truly excel at doing.
