chauchat

ショーシャ

The Chauchat is the French light machine gun, first adopted in 1915 during World War I.

The weapon is highly-recognizable by its distinct semi-circular magazine with holed sides that holds 20 8×50mmR Lebel rounds, a tubular upper receiver with a open front sight post on top, a conical muzzle device, and a vertical foregrip behind the magazine position.

Its combat record was abysmal. It jammed often, feed issues were common, and attempting to load a full magazine into the Chauchat would almost inevitably cause it to fail to chamber the first shot, which is why it was usually only loaded with 16 or 18 rounds in the magazine.
