The second major installment of Call of Duty series, released on 25 October 2005.

The game is set during World War II and the campaign mode is experienced through the perspectives of four soldiers: one in the Soviet Army, one in the United States Army, and two in the British Army.

Compared to the first game, CoD 2 featured significant overhauls such as health regeneration instead of relying on first aid kits, reduction of ammo and grenades the player can carry, grenade indicator, more realistic character animations, and "biome-dependent" variations of the German troops: White winter coats in the Eastern Front, beige-clad Afrika Korps in North African deserts, and standard Feldgrau uniform in the European theater.
