black adam (movie)
Black Adam is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC comics character of the same name. Produced by New Line Cinema, DC Films, Seven Bucks Productions, and FlynnPictureCo. and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is a spin-off from Shazam! (2019) and the 11th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
The film received mixed reviews and performing poorly in the box office due to its boring and confusing plot, Dwayne Johnson overhyping his character as a "superhero who kills" despite previous DCEU superheroes have killed people and turning Black Adam, who normally is a villain and Shazam's archenemy into an anti-hero. Furthermore, Dwayne's refusal to allow Black Adam to appear in a sequel to the 2019 Shazam! movie as Shazam's next villain (along with news the DCEU was ending with a reboot to the DC Universe by James Gunn) led to the failure of the 2023 sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
