A family of sport played on a pool table, a table with six receptacles called pockets along the rails, into which balls are deposited as the main goal of play.

There are several variants of cue sports, including:

• Billiards, which involves taking out numbered balls in order before taking out the final one.
• Snooker, which involves taking out as many red balls as possible before taking out the other colored ones.
