An ongoing seinen dark fantasy action/horror manga series by Miura Kentarou that has been adapted into a 25-episode anime, a film trilogy, and summer 2016 TV anime series.
It follows the story of Guts, the Black Swordsman, who wanders the earth fighting off demons that are drawn to the Brand of Sacrifice mark on his neck. Guts seeks revenge against Griffith, his former best friend, whose betrayal led to the loss of Guts' hand and eye, and nearly everyone he cared about.
Miura passed away on May 6, 2021, leaving the series unfinished. On June 7, 2022 it was announced that Miura's Studio Gaga under the supervision of Kouji Mori, a close friend of Miura, would resume the series utilizing material left behind or talked about by Miura before his passing.
