The third season, also known as "fall", is marked by shorter daylight hours and cooler weather along with the end of the growing season and the year's final harvest. Generally identified by the presence of autumn leaves and the return of warmer clothing such as scarves and sweaters.

Seasonal foods commonly enjoyed in autumn include apples, chestnuts, persimmons, saury, and sweet potatoes.
