atlanta (city)
The capital city of Georgia in the United States, and the state's most populous city by far, with over half of Georgia's total population living in Atlanta's greater metro area. Originally named Terminus for its role as a railroad town, Atlanta was almost entirely destroyed during the American Civil War, and fully rebuilt, which is why the city's symbol is the phoenix.
Modern-day Atlanta is one of the largest economic centers of the Southeast US, with corporate headquarters to Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, Arby's, UPS, Racetrac and more. It is also well-known for film, television, and other productions. Atlanta is also very famous for the variety of sports teams and musical groups based in the city or originating from the city.
Atlanta's Skyline is the most well known in the Southeastern United States with the crown jewel being the Bank of America building, also known as the Pencil.
