akagi: yami ni oritatta tensai
Akagi: The Genius who Descended into Darkness is a Riichi Mahjong centric manga by Fukumoto Nobuyuki, and the second entry in his mahjong series. It is about the young days of Akagi Shigeru from Ten, chronicling the beginning of his rise to legend in the underworld of Mahjong in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The manga received a 26 episode anime in 2005.
Famous for the Washizu Mahjong arc, which lasted from 1997 to the manga's completion in 2017, making it the longest manga arc in history.
