In Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, wraiths are beings similar in many respects to witches. They are the result of Madoka's wish in the final episode erasing all witches of past, present and future from existence, including her own witch form, and provides magical girls with something they can still fight so that Kyubey can still harvest energy to counter the entropy endangering the universe.
