A large theropod carnivorous dinosaur. Often referred to as "T-Rex" for short, from the type specimen's scientific name Tyrannosaurus rex.
While there are at least five other species of Tyrannosaurus known to science, the type specimen T-Rex is arguably the most popular species of non-avian dinosaur, stemming from the discovery of several complete fossil specimens, along with its depictions in media as an apex predator. Particularly in Jurassic Park.
Like other tyrannosaurids, Tyrannosaurus was a bipedal carnivore with a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail.
