Edit
The thylacines (Thylacinus cynocephalus, also called Tasmanian tigers) are an extinct species of marsupials once native to Tasmania, Papua, and the Australian mainland. Due to convergent evolution on account of their unique habitat conditions, they developed tiger-like features like stripes and canid skulls.
The "tiger" tag should not be applied when tagging due to the thylacine being technically a mammal.
Known in Japanese as Fukuro-ookami (袋狼).
