El Escorpio or El Escorpión (The Scorpion) is a mysterious, very skilled and powerful masked Mexicanluchador. He is a playable character in later games of the series.
The character's name in the original Japanese edition of the game was "The Astro" (アストロ, Asutoro). The design of The Scorpion is strongly based in real life luchador Tinieblas ("Darkness") and his son, Tinieblas JR. The original Tinieblas was one of the first luchadores to ever tour Japan back in the 1970s and became very popular there.
