Terry is an American street fighter, trained in Hakkyokuseiken and a mish-mash of various martial arts. He is the elder brother to Andy Bogard and friends with Joe Higashi, Mai Shiranui, and Blue Mary among many others, mortal enemy of Geese Howard - the South Town crime lord who murdered his and Andy's father Jeff Bogard, and adoptive father and mentor to Geese's bastard son Rock Howard. He is one of the biggest folk heroes of South Town, a fictional coastal American metropolis inspired by Miami, Florida.
Terry is one of SNK's chief ambassadors, appearing in numerous cross-overs and promotions on top of being an all-around very popular character and important to the landscape of video games. For example, he is commonly cited as the primary inspiration for Guilty Gear's Sol Badguy. He achieved his memetic status in part through his "engrish" quotes said during gameplay.
