2023 Mario game, succeeding the New Super Mario Bros. series as the next traditional sidescroller in the franchise.
The first mainline sidescrolling Mario game (not counting Super Mario Run) since Super Mario Land 2 to feature Princess Daisy in any form, and first since Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island to feature Yoshi as a playable character. Introduced brand-new power-ups, including the Wonder Flower and the Elephant Fruit that turns those that pick it up into anthro elephants (象).
