Sonic the Hedgehog (γ½γγγ―β γΆβ γγγΈγγγ°, Sonikku za Hejjihoggu) or Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie, is a two-episode OVA based on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Produced by Pierrot, directed by Kazunori Ikegami and written by Masashi Kubota, the OVA was originally released in Japan in 1996, with its two thirty-minute episodes over two separate VHS tapes.
The two episodes were titled "Welcome to Eggmanland" (γ¨γγ°γγ³γ©γ³γγΈγγγ, Eggumanrando e Mukae) and "Sonic vs. Metal Sonic!!" (γ½γγγ―οΌΆοΌ³γ‘γΏγ«γ»γ½γγγ―οΌοΌ, Sonikku tai Metaru Sonikku!!).
The anime features Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Dr. Eggman (Dr. Robotnik in the English release), Metal Sonic and a few supporting characters created exclusively for the OVA. It also featured an ending theme "Look-a-like", with music score composed by Mitsuhiro Tada, who also did the arrangement for "Look-a-like".
