Sd.Kfz. 234/1 234/2 234/3 234/4
The Sd.Kfz. 234/2 "Puma" was a German heavy reconnaissance wheeled armoured car from the Second World War. It was developed in 1943 as the successor to its predecessors (Sd.Kfz. 231/232/233). The chassis was the standard Sd.Kfz. 234 chassis, as used in the Sd.Kfz. 234/1 and 234/4. However, the 234/2 featured a 5 cm KwK 39 gun and an MG 42 machine gun mounted in a VK 16.02 "Leopard" turret. Approximately 101 vehicles were built between December 1943 and June 1944. They were primarily used for reconnaissance on the Western Front, including during D-Day against the Allies and the Battle of the Bulge, but also saw occasional service on the Eastern Front.
