A Russian 5.45×39mm light machine gun, first developed in 2016. It features the famous AK gas-operated long-stroke piston system. It also shares several novel features derived from the AK-12 such as a Picatinny rails, detachable bipod instead of the fixed one of the RPK-74 and a side-folding stock
The RPK-16 can be configured with two main barrel lengths; a 550 mm long barrel for LMG role and a 370 mm one for assault rifle role. Its design enables it to have an interchangeable barrels that can easily be removed, and the ability to quickly attach a suppressor. It primarily uses a 95-round drum magazine and also compatible with standard magazines from earlier 5.45mm caliber AKs.
