A novelty sweet in the form of a hard candy in the shape of an improbably large brilliant-cut gemstone, affixed to a plastic finger ring. The ring is an incomplete circle so the pop can fit a wide range of hand sizes.
The original Ring Pop was invented in the 1970s by an engineer at the Topps Company, ostensibly in an effort to break a child of thumb sucking (hence its resemblance to a pacifier). They are currently manufactured by Bazooka.
