Peacemaker is an American HBO Max web television series by James Gunn, based on the DC Comicsantihero of the same name. It is the first and only television series in the DC Extended Universe.
Following the events of The Suicide Squad, which was also directed by James Gunn, a recovered Peacemaker/Chris Smith is given a new mission by ARGUS to investigate a mysterious project codenamed "Butterfly". While Smith is helped by some ARGUS agents and a crazy antihero named Vigilante on his mission, he also deals with the trauma of his childhood past and guilt over killing Rick Flag while trying to be a real superhero to the public.
Following the end of the DCEU, the Peacemaker series continued with a second season in the new DC Universe where the events of the first season and The Suicide Squad are still canon but any connection or references to the DCEU is retconned, as seen in a recap of the first episode of the second season where instead of the Justice League appearing in the first season finale, it is the Justice Gang who appear instead.
