Orphan is a 2009 psychological, slasher movie directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. The movie follows the Coleman family, who adopts an orphan girl named Esther after the family suffers a personal tragedy after their third child's miscarriage. While the family at first gets along with their new daughter with Esther being friends with their first two children, the Colemans soon start to realize something wrong with Esther and Esther has a dark secret and her own motives for the family.
A prequel, Orphan: First Kill was released in 2022 which reveals Esther's past.
