Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (German: Nosferatu – Eine Symphonie des Grauens) is a 1922 German silent horror vampire film directed by F. W. Murnau. It was originally going to be an adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, but all the characters in the film were renamed to avoid copyright infringement, with Dracula renamed to Count Orlok and the film set in Germany instead of England and Transylvania like in the novel.
The film follows Thomas Hutter, a young estate agent assigned by his boss to help eccentric Transylvanian noble Count Orlok move to the fictional German town of Wisburg. Unbeknownst to Thomas, Orlok is a vampire who seeks Thomas's wife Ellen for his own desire.
