The Namahage are demon-like beings portrayed by men wearing heavy onimasks and traditional mino during a New Year's ritual. They typically march in small groups of two or three and go door-to-door between people's homes, admonishing children who may be guilty of laziness or bad behavior by yelling phrases like "Are there any crybabies around?"
