Chiori was born to a rich family in Tokyo. Her father is a university professor and her mother is a surgeon. They are often traveling for work and leave a maid to take care of Chiori most of the time. One year, she received a teddy bear bag from her parents as het birthday present, and she keeps it with her all the time. She learned about mahjong from a TV show and fell in love with the game. "Mahjong is so fun! I can have so much from other people's suffering."
